I built this bike a little over a year ago after researching the best components to create a light weight and versatile full suspension trail bike with the capability of doing some more adventurous riding if I wanted. This bike came out perfect, it looks fantastic, it handles brilliantly and it weighs less than an aluminum hardtails and only a little more than a lightweight hardtail. The frame is the 2012 model (the nicest looking Trek frame in recent years in my opinion) and it was voted bike of the year in 2012. I built this as I wanted a lightweight susser, but I really don’t use it, so I’ve decided to sell. I’ve done all the hard work sourcing the parts and tuning it until it rides like a dream – you will get a fully sorted bike. The XTR drive train works unbelievable, its so precise, the SLX brakes stop you on a dime and are recognized as being Shimano’s most reliable units, the Thomson dropper was fully serviced just before fitting and works perfectly every time and is ultra smooth and at the heart of the bike, the frame and fork combo (the forks were NOS units and intended specifically for the frame) just glides over everything and never seems to become unstable or vague. All the pivot bearings are good, the frame does have some marks on it from use, but these are light and age related, most of the components – the forks, the dropper post, wheels, tyres, stem, bars, brakes, etc are virtually new, the rear cassette is new and the only damage that I need to specifically mention is a broken lug on the XTR spider. I was running aluminum chainring bolts and managed to sheer two off when I was out one day. Unfortunately this broke one lug of the spider. I have replaced the fixings with steel items and this has sorted the issue and the broken lug doesn’t affect operation in any way, but obviously it is now damaged – I’ve shown it close up in one of the pictures. I’m happy for anyone to contact me to discuss the bike (07860 916877) and you are welcome to come an test ride it with me around the local trails to see what you think – I’m based in Suffolk on the coast. If you do want the bike couriered, then I will pack it up very carefully and protect it very well – but you will need to arrange your own courier and I will accept NO RSPONSIBILITY for damage – this will be entirely at YOUR OWN RISK.
