1997 GT STS-1 with Rock Shox Deluxe rear shock. 18 frame (stamped on bottom bracket, 1096 would indicate it was built 10th month of 1996 for 1997 sales). Good original condition with original decals. I’ve not polished the aluminium I’ve left it as is so should you choose to polish it you can. Headtube is aluminium but painted black. Later ones were thermoplastic this may have been painted to replicate that. Some came from the factory like that, its not the only one I’ve seen like it. No damage to the frame that I can detect other than light cosmetic, commensurate with its age. Shock is obviously 22 years old and I have no service history for it. The frame has been stripped down for over 5 years and unridden so I can’t test it. Doesn’t feel like there is any play in the bushes, replacement trunnion chips are available from BETD.
