XT drivetrain, the bottom bracket, the headset, the Goodrich braided hoses. The Maverick front fork, Fox Float rear shock and wheels were about all that remained as I also fitted new tyres, carbon bars, new barends and saddle myself. I’ll detail the current spec of the bike. Front Forks – Lightweight Maverick Duc 32 with 6 inches of travel (they are upside down motorbike style and get a lot of comments). Brakes – Hope mini mono twin pots (these breaks are absolutely awesome with the huge rotors giving immediate stopping power). Gears – it’s an XT drivetrain. I replaced the rear cassette, chain and chain rings 2 years ago (the bike has only had around 10 days riding since then). Wheels – Mavick X717. Hubs – Hope rear hub, nice sound! Tyres – Maxxis High Roller 2.1 on rear & Larsen TT 2.0 on front (New – ridden on twice). Handlebars – Easton Monkeylite Carbon. Saddle – Selle Italia Q-Bik – very comfortable I used to have a titanium Flite on the bike but as I was only riding it once every few months-pain! The bike has just been in for a service and is riding very nicely. Tthis bike has travelled to the Lake District the Scottish Highlands the Alps on 3 occasions including climbing up Alp D’Huez (it had to be done). 90 and I have always looked after my bikes getting them serviced in shops – at least in the last 10 years. This bike has been absolutely magnificent fun, and is probably too accomplished a bike for my ability. I don’t think I have ever needed 6 inches of travel. The reason I bought this bike in the first place was because of the reviews it got at the time which were consistently 10/10 , the fact it was the lightest full suspension mountain bike I could find on the market at the time at 27.5lbs. Given that some of the routes that we did involved quite a bit of carrying this was an important consideration. The frame geometry is perfect for an over the shoulder carry!! I will try and post a link to a review. I have also noted down below what other purchasers said about the bike. Faultless spec, awesome performance, light weight. We can’t think of another bike that feels as at home in the woods as it does rock-blasting out in the hills. The Whyte 46 doesn’t just move the goalposts, it changes the shape of the pitch… If you ride for miles and miles over every terrain, you’re light on equipment and you’re worried about being beaten up by endless Alpine (or Welsh even) roots and rocks, then the 46 will be right up your street. If you’re a quiet pedaler and sit and spin rather than honk and huck then you’ll love it. The bike made me a far better climber as the wheels always seem to be in traction with the ground. Going over rocky and root strewn singletrack which is my preferred type of trail the bike just seemed to soak up everything and track in a straight line making me feel like I was are technically more gifted rider. For the amount of riding I do this is not necessary so I have decided to try and overcome my sentimental attachment to my beloved bikes and slim down the fleet. I’m not really sure what these are worth now but I’m keen for the bike to go to a good home where it will be used. Alternatively you’re welcome to come and view the bike in central Edinburgh.
