Intense 951 Racing Fro downhill frame in astonishing green colour, 26″, small size 15″, fox dhx rc4 rear shock, cane creek 1 1/8 headset (non tapered), 12x148mm rear axle (boost), wtb volt saddle, Crankbrothers cobalt 2 seat post, hope clamp, shimano saint bottom bracket, rockguard protection under the frame, invisible film protection on the top of the frame, G3 dropouts (which lets you adjust the geometry between three dropout positions), VPP technology (Virtual Pivot Point, a popular mountain bike suspension design that uses two short, counter-rotating links to create a single virtual pivot point that moves through the suspension travel) same as Santa Cruz. The frame shows some signs of use but great working condition.

Not to be confused with the more common and less durable aluminium frames, these are ultra tough and equally rare. The idea behind these was to provide a really strong frame, forks, and finishing kit inc chainset, some tough wheels, but keep it affordable by using lower end mechs and V brakes as these would be easy to upgrade in the future. I bought this new many years back, but I had other bikes I was riding at the time, and it felt a bit small, so I never really rode it. Since then I upgraded it slightly with some Avid V brakes (original Tektro weren’t great), new pedals (Kona ones are available but have some paint flake), grips (old ones disintegrated), and a smaller jump specific saddle (not sure where the original is) and gave it to my son to ride. Unfortunately he isn’t a keen rider and has ridden it about 5miles in total I would guess, hence bobbles on tires, and us now taller than me! It is in amazing condition for it’s age (2003/4), and the frame and forks are nearly indestructible and worth loads on their own. The geometry is great, and this is the sought after second generation frame where they modified the seat tube and backstay design to fix the failure point of the MkI (I was a Kona dealer at this point).

It has been stripped and repainted with aerosol. The finish is good, but there are areas that are not perfect (see photos). It has been primers and had 2 coats of color, then new decals applied. It comes with a new and complete headset and a nice retro quick release seatpost clamp. The bottom bracket threads are mint, and the sliding dropouts are in equally good condition. There are no dents, scrapes, or cracks. I’m not sure of the size, but the dimensions are. 15.5 inches from centre of bottom bracket to top of seat tube. 22 inches from centre of seat tube to centre of headtube. Straight 1 1/8 steerer. 34mm external cup headset. 68mm bottom bracket shell width. 26″ or 24″ wheel. QR or bolted axle. It was painted and built up into a complete bike, displayed then stripped for parts. There are a few tiny chips to the paint here and there. I have taken detailed photos to show the condition so please study them before purchasing. Somewhat of a rare pony this one. Really want to keep it, but it’s the time old story, too many projects and not enough space. Plus it’d be a waste of bike for the skills that I have nowadays. I believe it to be original paint and decals, which is nice, in pretty good condition all around really, its obviously been sat around as a project for more of its life than its been ridden for. Scuffs here and there, stuff that will polish out with some effort. Some paint chips from chain slap. And some tyre rub. There’s a crappy paint chip just infront of the seat post clamp from bad storage and moving. I’d say that’s the worst blemish. Original stickers I think with a bunch of period extra stickers which I’m always a fan of and really don’t like taking them off as they really show a place in time where it came from. Has a dmr bb adapter fitted which seems in good order. And, the very very rare original hope rear mount – along with a full set of hope brakes – front and rear. These will absolutely need a full rebuild. The rear lever was separated from the hose as the hose was already messed up and the lever waving around was risking chiping the frame some more, so off it came. Includes seatpost and clamp and 24seven seat. However, sadly and annoyingly it does not include the rear dropout kit. Although it seems these are slightly easier to get a hold of than the hope mount so at least there’s that. A really cool rig. It really deserves some energy to make it great again.

It is an absolutely beautiful frame and in very good condition with no dents or cracks. It has seen very little use. There are a few chips to the paint which have been touched up. There are some light scratches and marks as shown in the photos but nothing bad at all. The bottom bracket threads are fine. It has a really nice bottom bracket fitted, which clamps from either side. It can fit a BMX/JUMP BIKE Cranks with the insert removed. 16.5 inches from centre of bottom bracket to top of seat tube. 21.5 inches from centre of bottom bracket to centre of headtube. Straight 1 1/8 fork steerer. 34mm external cup headset. 68mm bottom bracket shell width. It is a beautiful frame and superb quality.
