On One Big Dog- 4130 Steel Hardtail Boost Mountain Bike frame- 29er Size Large. Bought new to transfer parts to my titanium frame, hence this frame will be surplus to requirements. Couple of very minor paint chips, see pics. Brake Type: Disc, post mount only. Axle size: Boost spacing 148mm rear. Recommended fork travel: 120-130mm. Max tyre clearance: 2.35 (29).
I believe this to be a Raleigh Ravine from circa 1992. The frame is in pretty tidy condition though the decals have been removed. The paintwork is pretty good apart from some scratches. The inner chain stay is rubbed (you can see where I have removed the protector) – Personally, this wouldn’t be a problem for me as I’d cover it with a protector but I want the listing to be warts and all. The tubing is Reynolds K2 which I believe was made exclusively for this line of Raleigh bikes. Other than that, there are a whole load of brand new parts. The bars are new as are the lock on grips and Dia Compe brake levers. The rear cantis are new. The wheels have been rebuilt with DT spokes on to NOS Alivio hubs and I have used Billy Bonkers tyres. The cassette (7 speed) is also new as is the Charge Spoon saddle. All in all, this is a surprisingly light bike and very pleasant to ride. It feels pretty quick on pavement and I’m sure would handle off road pretty well if you were to replace the tyres – the current tyres are good for light and dry off reading. Time for my much loved frame to have a new home. Has been taped since new so in pretty good condition. There are of course some scuffs which I have tried to capture in the photos. The frame rides amazingly, it’s been one of the best full sus frames I’ve ridden. It’s a 29er, large, 110 headtube and boost rear end. I have the matching fork for sale in a separate listing. Orange 324 factory racing downhill mountain bike frame – Norlando Grey (Original factory paint). Large – 27.5 boost wheel. Fox factory DHX2 coil shock with SLS spring – Serviced by Slick & Slide not long before bike dismantled. Includes SRAM GXP BB – Hope zero stack headset & seat collar – Chain guide & bash guard. One timid, middle-aged rider from new, only been used a handful of times, and to be honest, nowhere near to being used as intended (no black runs for me) more trail centres and tamer bike park runs. Invisframed from new, barely a mark on it, anything that can be seen is generally dirt around edges of, and marks on invisframe from things like zip ties etc… If removed/replaced paintwork would look as new. Never crashed, Absolutely no dents, dings, cracks or structural defects. Shock works perfectly, all controls work as should, no leaks. Bearings good, smooth and with no play. Being meticulously maintained and barely ridden will do that! Photo’s don’t do it justice as probably should have cleaned it first! I’m not really a downhiller these days, hence parting bike out (Bought brand new on a whim) I had kept hold of the frame as it is a lovely ride and thought about maybe trying a mullet conversion based around a 180mm single crown and 29 front wheel, but I’ve too many bikes and it really should stay as a DH race bike…..
