Pipedream Sirius 3G Reynolds 853 Frame in Candy Apple Red. WMTB, TEST WINNER, GOLD AWARD. I have owned this frame from new and it has served me well over the last few years. Built out of Reynolds 853 main triangle and 4130 seat and chain stays. This is one very versatile frame as it can run 26 or 27.5 wheel sizes. I ran it 27.5. Rear dropouts can slide back and forth by 25mm to accommodate either wheel size or to adjust the wheel base. Current rear dropouts are 135mm quick release but it can be adapted to run single speed or 142x12mm with the correct dropouts. You will notice that the frame has custom stainless steel plates at the dropouts these are to allow a rear rack to be fitted and can be removed. The seat stays have Tubus rack mounts fitted and again will be left installed. The frame has not had a hard life but does have paint loss with some surface rust, frame has no dents or cracks to any welds, the paint on these frames is a little brittle. All decals are intact and unmarked. The chain stays are bridgeless and allow for a 2.4 rear tyre on a. Internal rim 27.5 wheel which is the configuration I used for my off road tours, 60% of the time the bike was used for my daily commute. Frame has never been raced or used aggressively. Bottom bracket is 73mm and the threads are perfect. Seat tube is 27.2. Frame will accommodate a triple chainset. I ran the frame rigid but it will run a suspension fork up to 130mm. Head tube is tapered and so can run straight or tapered forks (headset dependent). Max tyre size 2.4 but you might get a 2.5 dependent on brand in there. 18 Frame would suit anyone from 5.10 to 6.1. I’m 5.11 with a 31 inside leg and used a 100mm stem. Frame will be supplied with a Hope seat collar (black) perfect condition. Hope top headset complete (black) bearings nice and smooth. You will need to source the bottom headset (sorry used on my new build) Hope. EC44/40 – Type H. Only reason for sale is I’ve gone boost so I can go semi fat. This frameset is from a little known frame builder from Birmingham. From what I’ve managed to research they were around in the 90s and built custom framesets and sprayed the bikes on site. This one in particular is a Reynolds 531 mountain bike frameset in a stunning fluro orange / blue silver paint scheme. It does show signs of its age with stone chips and a small ding in the top tube but apart from that it’s solid. It’s an 18″ frame designed to take 26″ wheels with the standard 100/135mm QR spacing. The fork is 1 threaded so requires a 22.2mm quill stem. The seatpost required is 27mm. Braking wise it has posts for cantilever brakes. Cane Creak’Forty’ headset. Salsa seat post clamp. Seat tube: Centre of BB to Centre of top tube is: 45cm / 17.5. Top Tube: Centre of Seat Tube to centre of Head Tube is: 56cm 22. Seat post diameter: 27.2mm – see my other listing for the Truvativ one I used on this bike. Steerer is 1 1/8. I built this up as a’dream’ bike with full Deore XT 10 speed with Hollowtech II chains and some new-old-stock parts. Sadly running out of space and need to consolidate. There are chips to the paintwork – due to it’s age the paint comes off quite easily and I’ve not ridden the bike very much (saving it for’best’) and it’s always been kept indoors and treated with love and tenderness. Even with this care it’s still got some paint loss. I’d recommend either getting it lacquered or professionally resprayed to give it the glory it deserves with fresh decals – kinda wish I’d done that! Structurally it appears sound with no dents. Listed is a used Kona Explosif mountain bike frame, which has been converted to singlespeed by James Bleakley of Black Sheep using stainless horizontal dropouts. It is made from Reynolds 853 and is approximately a 20″ size: the seat tube measures 20″ ctt, the effective top tube measures approximately 24″ ctc, the actual TT measures 23″ ctc, and head tube measures 150mm. The head tube is 1-1/8 and a threadless headset is included, the seat tube is 27.2mm, and the rear axle is 135mm (spacing measures 140mm, but fits 135mm bolt on well). There is currently a bottom bracket installed – I made a brief attempt to remove it and it didn’t budge, a more concerted effort may be able to remove it. It rolls with a light roughness but is functionally smooth. The frame shows scratches and marks typical of use, but looks good overall. Please inspect the images for detail. This lovely retro MTB is located in South Devon. I’m happy to post but would prefer collection – will package well but please allow a week or so for me to find a decent box and prepare for dispatch. At the asking price I will just about break even – keep this in mind if making an offer! You may know the history of these frames, but for those who don’t they were a British made frame inspired by the early Ritchey mountain bikes. This is closely related to the Evans / Saracen Conquest models which famously were ridden up Kilimanjaro. It’s a quality frame – lugged 531 throughout so very much old school! This is a fresh build with no corners cut – new grease and bearings throughout, everything obsessively cleaned and overhauled, fresh rubber (inc NOS Michelin amber wall tyres) and stainless cables throughout. New chain, spanking sealed Shimano BB, minty NOS brake levers etc… It’s mostly lovely Deore MT-60 but the hubs are Shimano 105 (with a brand new screw on freewheel) laced to the Mavic Oxygen rims with heavy duty stainless spokes. Wheels are hand-built, tight and true and correctly dished. For sale because I can’t see myself riding it much, I’ve only taken it around the block but gut feeling is that if anything it’s a bit too small. Anyway I’ve decided I’d rather sell it as a totally fresh build before I really put it through its paces and avoid getting attached! In any case I have plenty of other bikes that I like and don’t have time to ride, and other projects in the queue that I need space and funds for. As you can see the frame has cosmetic damage patina? I quite like it as-is but I think it would be worthy of a paint job at some point, or at least a touch-in to protect the frame. I have got a few more photos here if you need a closer look – please send me a message. Mechanically it’s superb – the only thing worth mentioning is some fairly minor wear to the front chainrings. This is a 17.5 hand-built trekking and adventure touring frame for 650b wheels. It has all fittings to take either Rohloff or derailleur gears and disc brakes. Designed for durability and 50+kg load capacity with all-day comfort and stability on or off road. This started off as a simple renovation of a wonderful old Dialled Bikes Love/Hate – the original version with vertical rear dropouts and gear-hanger. And it ended up. At Argos in Bristol – one of the best frame makers and painters in the country – to be fitted with every conceivable braze-on before. A full respray in a lovely metallic dark grey. 17.5 – middle of the three sizes made. Reynolds 520 steel oversize tubing. Phil Wood eccentric bottom bracket for use with single-speed or internally geared hub. Sealed bearing alloy headset. Thorn 110mm OLN 650b rigid trekking fork with 15mm through axle. Steerer is uncut 400mm. Rear drop-outs 135mm OLN vertical for QR or solid axle. Clearance for 2.75 tyres. Seat Tube (centre to top): 17.5. Top tube (centre to centre): 580mm. 30mm (29.8 may also fit). Max Rear Disc Size. Main frame braze-ons include. 3 x bottle cage bosses on main frame Rohloff clip-on cable guides under down tube and LH chainstay Derailleur cable guides on top tube, RH chainstay and Seat tube ISO rear disk mount and cable/tube guides.
