I refurbished this bike wjth brand new parts, its an unfinished project which 650 plus was spent on, plus the custom parts. This bike is mostly for bike specialists as gears 6 to 10 are skipping, (1-5 are fine). Will need a fix.

Retro 1987/88 Reynold 531 Claud Butler Cape Wrath MTB Frame and Forks. Reynolds 531 Cr-Mo Frame & Tange Cr-Mo Forks. This is a Low mileage 87 or 88 model, pretty sure its 1987 as catalogue looks right but i cant find 88 catalogue to check, nearly all parts of bike where dated 1987 but there is a few original parts dated 1988, maybe they didn’t update model for 88…. I don’t know. Claud Butler 1987 Catalog…… The frame is fully working with a few scratches, scrapes, peeled/peeling transfers, bubbling of paint & rust, all threads working as they should, overall apart from rust and bubbling paint the frame is in good condition for age, forks are very good as no bubbling or rust, pleases see pictures for cosmetic condition as i have tried to take pics of the worst rust and bubbling of paint. Some glue residue still on rear chain stay after removal of chain stay protector, the rest will come of tho. The cable guild that was riveted to bottom bracket is missing, rivet is still in place tho. From the centre of the bottom bracket to the top of the seat tube its approximately 52.5cm (20.66). Brake mount types are cantilever or V brake for front, U brake ONLY for rear. Frame weight is approximately 2595g. Fork weight is approximately 810g. For fork steerer is 1 (25.4mm) threaded. D (Over-Lock-nut Dimension) is approx 130mm, the width between frame where the rear axle sites. 68mm bottom Bracket shell size. For seat post size 27.0 diameter. Will be packed well. Only warm soapy water with a soft green scourer &/or toothbrush is used if/when cleaning items, no harsh chemicals or wire wool used. Any questions or you would like more pictures please just ask. 2009 Specialized stumpjumper expert frame size medium, has served me well over the years. Has specialized brain rear shocks that holds air but could probably do with a service, also included is a bottom bracket and headset both fully working plus seat clamp and mec hanger. Please study the pictures as these form part of the description only bad point are cable rub to head tube, stone chips and a unfortunately dent on the underside from a rock strike this has been the for over ten years and has affected the frame at all.

Good condition with some cosmetic marks, no cracks or bad chips, couple of small ones. Some tyre rub on the seat tube, enough to take the paint off, alloy rear has some rub left rear and slight chainring graze, linkages are all tight, no play that I can feel. Comes with Fox Float X Gemini shock (no remote toggle) in excellent condition. Carbon crash guard in place and good condition, headset cups in good order, BB bearings spin ok, haven’t been tested as I never built it up. Will need the rear axle and derailleur hanger, front left side internal cable guide is missing. Really nice frame in good order, which I wanted to build but won’t have the time.
