This lovely retro MTB is located in South Devon. I’m happy to post but would prefer collection – will package well but please allow a week or so for me to find a decent box and prepare for dispatch. At the asking price I will just about break even – keep this in mind if making an offer! You may know the history of these frames, but for those who don’t they were a British made frame inspired by the early Ritchey mountain bikes. This is closely related to the Evans / Saracen Conquest models which famously were ridden up Kilimanjaro. It’s a quality frame – lugged 531 throughout so very much old school! This is a fresh build with no corners cut – new grease and bearings throughout, everything obsessively cleaned and overhauled, fresh rubber (inc NOS Michelin amber wall tyres) and stainless cables throughout. New chain, spanking sealed Shimano BB, minty NOS brake levers etc… It’s mostly lovely Deore MT-60 but the hubs are Shimano 105 (with a brand new screw on freewheel) laced to the Mavic Oxygen rims with heavy duty stainless spokes. Wheels are hand-built, tight and true and correctly dished. For sale because I can’t see myself riding it much, I’ve only taken it around the block but gut feeling is that if anything it’s a bit too small. Anyway I’ve decided I’d rather sell it as a totally fresh build before I really put it through its paces and avoid getting attached! In any case I have plenty of other bikes that I like and don’t have time to ride, and other projects in the queue that I need space and funds for. As you can see the frame has cosmetic damage patina? I quite like it as-is but I think it would be worthy of a paint job at some point, or at least a touch-in to protect the frame. I have got a few more photos here if you need a closer look – please send me a message. Mechanically it’s superb – the only thing worth mentioning is some fairly minor wear to the front chainrings.
